Cardiac Surgery Suite Expansion and Renovation
"From the first moment Smith+Associates Architects understood the scope of the project and listened attentively when we described what we wanted to accomplish... they were engaged, motivated and organized. They took, what were, at the time, random thoughts, and began to make them a reality." - Robin E. Flint, Director, Cardiac Services, Kaleida Health
Project No.: 05014.b
Location: Buffalo, New York
Client: Kaleida Health
Area: 23,000 SF
Construction Complete: June 2007

The Cardiac Surgery Suite Project encompassed the renovation of approximately 23,000 sq. ft. of space on the 6th floor and was connected to the renovation of 8,600 sq. ft. on the 7th floor. It consisted of the relocation and expansion of the waiting room, patient holding area and family conference rooms, as well as all support spaces including the employee break room, lockers, and toilets. The 6th floor work also included the renovation of three catheterization labs and the addition of two new ones. Construction phasing and interdisciplinary coordination were also critical factors.
